Dawn and Tony are fabulous hosts – welcoming but leave you to it. The lodge is gorgeous and very toasty with the log burner (we survived easily at the end of October)! It is well equipped and we really enjoyed cooking outside on the terrace. A really relaxing weekend – thank you!
We enjoyed our stay here so much, even me with a broken foot managed to have a look at the beautiful scenery around- walm and cosy. Fire was amazing. Owners and there dog was fantastic. Hut was clean and tidy ready for guests. Only downfall is the fridge in the room did not work so it was Hooked up to a seperate fridge which made lots of noise. I would also like to have seen a little shop as the next shop is miles away.stocking drinks etc.. Other than that a amazing stay.
We loved every minute of our stay. Dawn, Tony and Jasper were so friendly and welcoming. The lodge provided everything we needed for our stay. An ideal getaway and a perfect location to be at one with nature and beautiful landscapes. We would love to return.
Our stay here was fantastic right from the start. The owners Dawn and Tony are very welcoming and helpful, showed us around the lodge and the surrounding garden and told us we was more than welcome to use the guest bathroom in the house for shower/bath facilities as the eco shower was not yet complete. With no internet, phone signal or anything to do with technology it gave us time as a family to re-connect and enjoy each others company again. The garden is lovely for walks leading onto the forest and being able to sit outside while looking out over the gorgeous views was pure bliss. The cabin was close enough that we could put our 1 year old to bed and keep an eye on him whilst we relaxed around the outside wood burning area giving us time as a couple to relax.
My wife and I have just returned from an extraordinary three night stay and we are still regretting not booking an extra night. It was very hard to leave and if the cabin wasn’t already booked we probably would have stayed at least another night. The cabin is in the most idealistic valley setting and Dawn and Tony create an friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The other reviews do well to detail the wonderful log fire, the delicious breakfast hamper, amount of interesting things to do nearby, and how the cabin is rustic and basic as you would want it but how it offers up everything you’ll need. What is almost impossible to describe is the strange sense of nostalgia you get in the valley. Listening to the shepherd’s whistle and commands for his border collie echoing off of the hills and the stillness of the starry evenings are like sensory time travel. Or maybe it was just our euphoria of not having phone signal or being connected to the internet. We’ll have to go back to find out and will definitely book that extra night!
We loved everything about wyldwood retreat! A really beauty spot! The cabin was beautifully decorated! So clean, cosy & well equipped! The scenery was perfect! The owners Dawn & Tony were wonderful! Super friendly & kind! They’re Readily available if you need them but otherwise just leave you to it & respect your privacy! The cabin is private with its own private garden! We found goodies in the cabin upon arrival! Mmmm The organic flapjacks were amazing!! I’ve experienced many glamping/cabin holidays around the uk & this really is the best by far! I really can’t fault it & highly recommend a visit!! It’s the perfect peaceful getaway!! – Peaceful, private & relaxing!! The gardens & woodland attached to the property are beautiful & great to explore! Even in the rain! & Lots of wildlife to enjoy!! There was even fresh flowers & scented candles in the cabin! As well as a log fire!! So very much attention to detail!!! These owners clearly care about customer experience!! Which is why I would rate it higher than any other glamping/cabin holiday I’ve experienced in the uk!! I recommend it so much I’m going back in 2 weeks time!!!! Can’t wait!!!
Just returned from Wyldwood retreat. This place is absolutely beautiful. The owners Dawn and Tony were lovely, thoughtful people and could not of been more helpful. Their little dog Jasper is just adorable and played with my dog all weekend. The terrace lodge it self was perfect, very spacious and so clean. It had everything you need for a relaxing weekend. We will definitely be returning and recommending this place to friends and family.

“The lodge is idyllic and Dawn and Tony were so welcoming.”
We loved the ground that the lodge is set in. There is nothing for miles around and the place brings new meaning to the phrase ‘total silence’. We felt completely immersed in the nature and the surroundings.
We enjoyed spending our evenings on the terrace and then moving inside to sit in front of the log burner.
Dawn and Tony are such friendly and warming people who make you feel like nothing is too much trouble.
Our short escape from every day life started off with a very warm welcome from Dawn and Tony (and a basket of home grown goodies), who gave us a quick tour of the lodge and it’s amenities, we found the lodge perfect for our family and it had everything and more than we’d expected.
There are plenty of things to do/see of a day (Medieval market town of Shrewsbury is a must) and by night we enjoyed eating outside on the decking taking in the beautiful views to the backdrop of the local wildlife.
Dawn and Tony were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble, we can’t finish the review without a mention of our little four legged friend Jasper who if we could have got away with it we would have smuggled home with us – Dawn / Tony those extra pounds he has gained is probably from us giving him marshmallows we were toasting 😉
Jurgita B. said … I had a fantastic time staying in the fairy cozy Cabin with my husband and a baby girl. Dawn is incredibly welcoming and amazing person as so the host is too. The place is surrounded by greenery, trees, loads of flowers and plants and little statues, feels like you have arrived to the fairyland. The host has so much of the character! There is loads of lanterns ant fairy lights around so even in the dark you feel much romantic and cozy. There is books and some games also to keep you busy in the nature. We have met their cat Missy and the dog Jasper and felt in love with them as soon as we saw them! Miss them already 🙂 There is a nice medieval town nearby and the highest waterfall in Wales. We cannot wait to go back! Totally in love with this place ……. June 2015

My girlfriend and I were looking for peace and quiet after an intense 2 months of hard work. This was the ideal place! Dawn and Tony welcomed us with genuine warmth into their beautiful home but also gave us space to explore on our own. The grounds boast several acres of fruit garden as well as woodland. Most importantly, The Cabin was fantastic – cosy but spacious, and very comfortable. Inside is a wood-burner with plenty of fuel, and also a kitchenette (sink, hobs, grill). Outside is a gas-powered BBQ and also a chimera. The best thing about the cabin is the nature that surrounds it. At night you can hear owls hooting and see the constellations, owing to zero light pollution. In the day you can see other birds and enjoy a hike around the grounds. We shall definitely visit again!

“Peaceful, Friendly and just lovely”
Having just had a short stay here, I can honestly recommend the place to anyone who wants total peace and quiet with the basic necessities. No phones, wifi etc. Back to nature as far as you can get without being in survival mode. The hosts, Tony and Dawn (and their little helper Jasper) are very friendly and accommodating and the fact they allow dogs is wonderful. In total we had about 12 acres to wander over, all the wildlife to see which is left in peace, and beautiful surroundings. Offerings of organically grown fruit and veg from their gardens (which are wonderfully beautifully wild). Cabin was clean and sufficient. Really can not say enough good things about the place, out in the middle of nowhere in wonderful Wales.

“Peaceful, comfortable with stunning views”
Our stay in the Cabin was eco living at its most luxurious. The bed was so comfortable and waking to birdsong with no sounds of modern life was totally refreshing. The Cabin was newly decorated, spotlessly clean and equipped with all we needed to cook our meals, we mainly ate them outside in the private garden. On arrival after a cup of tea Dawn and Tony showed us around the vast garden which is stunning, with ornamental and wild flowers, hidden steps and terraces, mixed and conifer woodland and a really inspiring organic vegetable area. We were invited to use the garden as much as we wanted and to help ourselves to salad. After spending one day at nearby Llanrhaeadr Waterfall and the other at Lake Vrynwy , we spent two lovely evenings cooking our bbq and playing with the box games that are in the Cabin. We were very sorry to be leaving and will definitely return.
This beautiful cabin is very spacious inside. It holds the heat of the day very well so you almost don’t need any other form of warmth at night. But if you do there is a log burner provided which works wonderfully, or snuggling up with someone under a blanket!
The thing we enjoyed most about this place was being able to totally get away from everyday life. It was so wonderful to be cut off for a short time from everything else and just enjoy nature and each other. Without electricity we could not be constantly checking our phones or watching the television, and it was a great time to re-kindle some old fashion romance and just enjoy one another.
