Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant best known as the location of Wales’s highest waterfall, the Pistyll Rhaeadr, famous for its natural arch. Sycharth Castle remains, home of Owain Glyndwr, Prince of Wales.
Pennant Mellangel St Melangell’s Church This ancient church stands in a round churchyard, once a Bronze Age site, ringed by ancient yew trees estimated to be two thousand years old The church contains a fine 15th Century oak screen with carvings that tell the story of Saint Melangell and Prince Brochwel. Melanegell is the patron Saint of Hares and her legend is from a pre Christian era.
The Berwyn Mountains are nearby as is Lake Vyrnwy and a trip to the sea across the mountains to Barmouth or Harlech takes around an hour and a quarter.
Moelfre Hall is a paragliding centre and also has one of the fastest downhill mountain biking tracks, in the UK and hosts National Championships.
The nearest town is Oswestry and we are in easy reach of Llangollen, home of the national Eisteddffod, Chester and Shrewsbury.
